Exhaustion in Perimenopause
Don't Lay it Down
Meditation
Sitting quietly in meditation is the spiritual equivalent of recharging your cell phone batteries. If you empty a bucket filled with water, you'll only have an empty bucket if you don't refill it. Meditation is one way to re-energize your body and soul. Doing the meditation is the easy part ... making the time for it is the tough part.
I've developed a simple, easy meditation technique for women in perimenopause that will make a huge difference in how you feel. Click here to read more.
Exercise
It's one of those strange truths that exercising gives you energy ... and not exercising makes you tired. Hard to believe, when you are dragging around, barely able to function.
When you give yourself choices, that's when the problems begin. "Just Do It" is more than just an expression. It's a philosophy.
You don't have to run a marathon to succeed with exercise or experience the benefits. A 10 minute walk will help. Even a five minute walk will provide benefits. SOMETHING. ANYTHING. Just get your body moving. We aren't meant to be sedentary creatures. Bodies are made for movement.
If you have other illnesses or disabilities that prevent you from doing certain exercises, speak to your doctor or physical therapist. There are so many ways to move your body.
See my free article, Stretch for Relief, for two simple stretches that can really help relieve pain if done daily.
Stretch every morning before getting out of bed. Muscles need to be moved around to help support your back and neck.
Knowledge is power!
This is truly a case where knowledge is power. Many, many causes of fatigue can be treated ... if you know the cause. For instance, simple blood tests can rule out illnesses, and confirm if your exhaustion is due to a vitamin B12 deficiency, which is easily corrected with injections of B12.
In addition, thyroid problems, even borderline, can cause fatigue. You must find a good thyroid doctor who understands the subtleties of the tests. Some doctors feel that the current standards for normal may actually be out of range for some women.
Perimenopause & Fibromyalgia
There seems to be a correlation between perimenopause and Fibromyalgia or Chronic Fatigue syndrome. While these are not curable conditions, understanding how to prevent or ameliorate episodes can help you better deal with the situation. Once you are clear on the cause, and possible solutions, for your fatigue, you may be able to accept that you will not always have the energy you used to have. See a good rheumatologist for a diagnosis. See the Other Resources page for information on Fibromyalgia
