While these few tips are simple, for many women they make a big difference in the number and severity of their hot flashes.

  • Watch your weight by sticking to a moderate food plan with a variety of foods.
  • Avoid hot and spicy foods, caffeine, and alcohol.
  • Dress in layers so you can cool off or warm up as needed
  • Put a cool compress against the back of your neck and lay down.
  • Sleep in a cool room.
  • Meditate or exercise to reduce your stress, which can trigger hot flashes.
